Coldplay ~ Amsterdam

(written: 2 June 2004)

you can say what you mean
but it wont change a thing
i'm sick of the secrets
stood on the edge
tied to a noose
you came along and you cut me loose
you came along and you cut me loose
you came along and you cut me loose

Crush my knees with a seat reclined to irreverent angles, and subject me to Crowded House from a corporate keyboard; these little things are infinity.

Dedicated to those of us who live life behind airplane windows, under dim light and smoking bans. Who assemble their slot-car tracks beyond the horizon ---

The anthem for undefined longing, no face yet attached, nor even being groomed, but now accepting resumés with references and cockeyed optimism.

this journal can't really begin without the week leading up to my departure retold... the thing though is... i will always remember sharing a bottle of pepto bismol with someone in a mall foodcourt... and then making eye contact over sandwiches and coffee with someone else... all very western things...

One night we cut a path through the northern snows, surfacing in a wilderness that would make Atwood proud. Anytime you're further north than Gravenhurst, your dwelling has that permanent campfire smell... and it's oh so welcome in winter as if the ghosts of summer past- bug bites and rainy day board games- throw their arms around you.

Another time there were no windows and the clock radio was a liar. Streetcars drove by all night long waking me from a shallow sleep. I sweat a lot and was worried about snoring too loudly but we were equal in the end.

Another time we pulled to a stoplight, and I stared at the giant red eye, and started to cry because of the genius of it all.

Another time we shared a smoke on a rooftop, and it began to rain, but we tried not to notice.

Another time we landed in Kuwait City. That's not the best I can do for you, but...

Another time Toronto was humid as always, and I kind of stuck to your leather interiour. But then it got overcast, and I had no need to squint.

Another time it might have all worked out.
