Johnny Cash ~ Pocahontas
(written: 6 August 2004)We'll set this one up like Marcy Playground's underappreciated ode to history books and Jolt! hangovers, "America".
You know what it's like on Labour Day weekend, and you and all your skeazy friends have gone camping to usher out the summer in a shower of vomit and catharsis? You wake up the next morning, and September is heavy and cold, but strikes you right to your very core. You're awake, and alive, and the tent smells like excrement. Well, imagine all that, but your Ford Focus is centuries from being a blueprint. And instead of starting school tomorrow, you are going to fill the gorge with the blood of the non-believers.
Interpol ~ NYC

Coldplay ~ Easy To Please
Official soundtrack of your aunt's cough syrup addiction, or your dog's hip surgery.
I'd make some comparison about the winds and the snows and the background to this song... but it's all so rudimentary at this point, and no one wants to hear me say 'apocalyptic' or 'cathartic' anymore.
